Mayor Cornett delivered the tenth State of the City message:
“Our momentum is taking on speed, and we are not going to stop now. The state of this city might be stronger than any other city in the United States. Allow me to offer that the next ten years are shaping up to hold opportunities that are bigger and better than anything we’ve done.”
Every January, the Mayor speaks to the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce on the State of the City. It is an opportunity to look back on recent accomplishments, update the Chamber on current developments and looks ahead to the future.
Specifically about the This City is Going on a Diet program: "Our message in this second year of the program is simple. For whatever reason if you didn’t choose to take part in 2008, consider taking part in 2009. The time to lose weight is not when the mayor says. The time is when you are ready. When you are ready, this community and this web site will be there for you."
